Fried Savoury Biscuits
Ingredients:
- Flour 1-1/2 cups OR
- Whole wheat flour 1/2 cup
- Plain flour 1 cup
- Sesame seeds 1-1/2 tbsp
- Cumin seeds 1/4 tbsp
- Red chilli powder or green chilli paste 1 tsp
- Hot oil/ghee/butter 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Water as required to prepare dough
- Oil for deep-frying
Method:
- Mix the flour, salt, chilli powder, ghee, salt, sesame seeds, and cumin seeds and combine. Knead the dough till smooth and firm. Roll out a part of the dough thickly. Use a fork to prick it. Cut lengthwise about an inch apart using a knife. Then cut into 2-inch squares. Heat enough oil for deep-frying and cook the squares till they turn a golden, fry on medium flame to achieve crispness. If you reduce flame to low, the chips will absorb a lot of oil. Use a slotted ladle to remove onto an absorbent paper and cool. Cool completely before storing in an airtight metallic container.
