Chana Pilao


Ingredients:
  • Basmati rice 1 kg
  • Oil 2 tbsp
  • Chopped ginger 2 tbsp
  • Chopped garlic 2 tbsp
  • Sliced onions 2
  • Chopped tomatoes 1/2 kg
  • Yogurt 200 gm
  • Whole garam masala 1 tbsp
  • Crushed red chilli 1 tbsp
  • Chopped coriander 1/2 bunch
  • Chopped green chillies 3-4
  • Boiled chickpeas 100 gm
  • Salt to taste
Method:
  • Heat oil, add onion, ginger and garlic and sautĂ©. When it start browning, put tomato, yogurt, coriander, red chilli, salt, and whole garam masala. Once sautĂ©ed, add the boiled chickpeas. Boil rice in a separate pan. Strain the rice and add it into the pan. When all the water is absorbed, put lid on the pot & seal it for 15 minutes for dum. Meanwhile, chop some onion, cucumber, tomato and make kachumbar salad. Invert the rice onto a plate and serve with Kachumbar salad & mint chutney.
